Turtle on Coral

Turtle hand-carved from jempinis wood on a parasite wood base. Parasite wood is a mushroom-like growth that feeds from the Chinaberry (Jempinis) tree embedding itself into its bark.

Dimensions: 11cm nose to tail.

Our parasite wood carvings are hand-carved by highly skilled artisans on the beautiful island of Bali. Parasite wood is a parasitic plant that grows on its host, the Chinaberry Tree.  It feeds off the tree’s sap and is so strong that even when it’s the host is dead this plant doesn’t decay.  The plants are collected by artisans who create these wonderful carvings.
